SANITARY SEWER SPILL REPORT TO EPD
Rear lot of 285 Piney Ridge
DATE OF SPILL: 8-11-2023
REPORT SUBMITTED: 8-11-2023 Initial Report submitted through EPD Emergency Report Line at 5:39PM, Mountain District Office in Cartersville was notified at 7:25PM.
LOCATION OF SPILL: Rear lot of 285 Piney Ridge
CAUSE OF SPILL: Customer's sanitary sewer service was knocked loose from connection point into gravity main (tapped on top of main)
ESTIMATED VOLUME DISCHARGED: less than 50 gallons, flow through line was a trickle due to customer not at home
RECEIVING WATERS: Unnamed tributary of Hinton Creek
WRF NPDES PERMIT: GA0032204
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO MITIGATE OR TO REDUCE ADVERSE EFFECTS: Sanitary service was repaired and re-connected into gravity main. The area around the service line was treated with lime.
OVERFLOW STATUS: Repairs were completed by 5:10PM, which stopped the spill. No visible adverse impact to creek; however, the City is sampling for the full 7 days to ensure no adverse impact. Any questions may be directed to Kim Goldener with the City of Jasper at 706-692-9100.

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT FUTURE OCCURENCES: This area of the collection system will be included in our preventative maintenance program.
